It is no secret that Indonesia is most famous for white sand beaches like Bali and the largest living lizard, the Komodo Dragon. However, this archipelago of 17, 000 islands offers more than just the beaches and the safari adventure. It also offers its scenic mountains and stunning waterfalls which are least recognised by the tourists and travelers alike.
One of the most visited waterfalls in Indonesia is the Sipiso-piso falls located in Karo, North Sumatera. Sipiso-piso reaches up to 120 meters, approximately 800 meters above sea level, and is regarded as the tallest in the country.
I had the opportunity to visit this place when we had a short mission trip to Medan. Visiting Sipiso-piso was actually not in our journey list but God has his ways of rewarding us after days of laboring for His kingdom.
Sad that we were just able to see Sipiso-piso’s captivating beauty from a distance, although we could have gone down to have a closer at it. But since climbing down and up the falls will take much time and we still have to drive to Lake Toba, we just enjoyed walking around and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
